Last month we wrote a very positive review about the early access version of Overkill VR. According to developer Game Troopers a series of updates was in the works. With ‘update 2.0’ they have delivered the largest update yet, which includes support for Oculus Touch.
The additions and changes are spread between gameplay and content. At the time of writing our review, we only had access to a series of levels in the ‘Slums’ location. The number of locations has now expanded with ‘Quarry’ and ‘Factory’, which contain three and six levels respectively.
The player now has access to support items such as various grenades, air strikes, healing packs and a rocket launcher. The arsenal of weapons and the way they are handled has also seen some changes. Based on community feedback, Game Troopers has added manual reloading. Now, players have to insert the magazine with their left hand in order to reload.
The most important change however, is full support for Oculus Touch. Because of this, owners of the Oculus Rift can finally enjoy one of the best VR-shooters currently on the market.
Overkill VR is available on Steam for €19,99. The game is compatible with the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, in case of the latter only when using Oculus Touch controllers.
